RSA Training: Serve Alcohol the Right Way 

Ready to serve up drinks responsibly? The Tasmanian Hospitality and Tourism Academy, in partnership with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826), offers a nationally recognized face-to-face training program for SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). 

This hands-on course is designed for anyone involved in selling or serving alcohol in Tasmania, covering everything you need to know about doing it safely and responsibly. You’ll learn the key skills, knowledge, and outcomes required by local regulations, so you can serve with confidence and keep things legal. Time to get certified and keep the good times rolling—responsibly! 


VXT has partnered with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826) to provide a nationally recognised face to face training program for SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). The training program is offered face to face for those who are involved in the sale and supply/service of alcohol according to relevant Tasmanian regulations. The training focuses on the performance outcomes, skills, and knowledge necessary for the responsible sale, service, or supply of alcohol.

VXT has partnered with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826) to provide nationally recognised online or face to face training programs for SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). The training program is offered online and face to face for those who are involved in the sale and supply/service of alcohol according to relevant Tasmanian regulations. The training focuses on the performance outcomes, skills, and knowledge necessary for the responsible sale, service, or supply of alcohol.

Enrolment Process

Click the ‘Enrol Now’ button and you will be directed to the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826) enrolment page, where you will be requested to complete a Registered Training Organisation Enrolment Form.

  1. The online process will provide three options for payment (invoice or secure credit card).
  2. Payment of course fees is required throughout the enrolment process.
  3. Course participants are required to hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI). if not already obtained, it is recommended participants apply for a Unique Student Identifier at www.usi.gov.au prior to completing the enrolment form.

To undertake the online course, participants will need:

  1. Reliable internet connection
  2. A desktop PC or laptop
  3. A functional built-in camera, and/or an external webcam
  4. Operational speakers or a headset for an immersive learning experience.

VXT has partnered with the Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) to offer SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol to the Tasmanian industry. The Queensland Hotels Association is a Registered Training Organisation (30826).

A licensee must not allow a person to serve liquor on licensed premises unless the person:

  • (a) has successfully completed an “approved course” – (RSA training course); or
  • (b) has been an employee of the licensee for, in aggregate, less than 3 months and is –
    • (i) undertaking an approved RSA training course; or
    • (ii) formally enrolled in an approved RSA training course that is scheduled to start within 3 months from the day on which the person is permitted to serve the liquor. The RSA training course is to be held within 3 months of commencing employment.
An “approved course” means a course of instruction or training in the service of liquor, approved by the Commissioner.​
There are penalties for not complying. Please refer to section 46 of the Liquor Licensing Act 1990.
